Our DBA program has four stages:
Research Methodology I
This phase lasts for 2-6 months after the program starts where you write a Concept Paper. The Concept Paper is a summary of a minimum of 2-3 pages and a maximum of six pages that gives a high-level idea of what you’d like to research. It aims to capture your thoughts and ideas and reveal the intended research direction.
The mentor will check the project’s feasibility and give feedback on the topic. However, keep in mind that the concept paper is not an advanced academic paper nor a research proposal.
Research Methodology II
This phase lasts for 2-6 months after you have completed the concept paper where you write the literature review. The literature review should have a minimum of 3-4 pages and a maximum of 15 pages. It should give the theoretical justification and highlight the gap between the past academic knowledge and the existing opportunities for new research.
Keep in mind that the literature review doesn’t necessarily have to be 100% complete at this stage. Once you have completed the literature review, the mentor will review the same.
This stage lasts for up to 1 year after you have completed the literature review. Here, you have to write the research proposal which should give details about what you will investigate, why it’s important and how you will do it.
Your mentor will review your research proposal and send it to the Research Committee which approves it. Keep in mind that your research proposal should only use the provided template. It would have the Cover Page, Introduction, Literature Review, Research Design, and Reference List.
This is the final stage of the DBA program which lasts up to one after you have completed the literature review. Here, you will have to complete the final thesis after the Research Committee has approved the proposal. After you have completed the dissertation project in this stage of the program, you will receive your doctorate in business management degree from the Swiss School of Business Management.

Why is getting a PhD degree worth it?
After your master’s, doing a PhD is worth it because it helps you personally as well as professionally. Students get a chance to conduct cutting-edge research, solve challenges, build things, set up collaborations and visit conferences. Besides this, your confidence is boosted immensely. Whether it’s giving presentations or thinking critically, doing a PhD is definitely worth it. Your job opportunities increase and you can expect a very good pay package wherever you go.
What are the job opportunities after a DBA?
Since a DBA offers rigorous, hand-on training in various fields and specialisations, you can explore numerous career paths. Some of them include the role of a management analyst, C-level executive (a person who designs company policies and strategies), market research analyst, a career in academia, and an economist (the one who conducts research, monitors trends, and performs data analysis for a company). Apart from this, there are many more options. It’s the best program to become aware of trends and technologies and learn from industry thought leaders and subject matter experts.
How to combine work with a PhD?
It is possible to earn a PhD alongside your existing job. If you find it a challenge managing both, you can even opt for a part-time PhD. It’s in fact the most sought-after option today. However, it will take you twice as long to complete the program. You should only work if you’re confident of managing both because a PhD degree requires one to be involved in intensive reading and research work. The learning material is more complex compared to a bachelor’s or master’s program.
